The Social Cooperative Enterprise EuKarystia will participate on Sunday, March 10, in the voluntary cleaning of the path from Aktio to Fylagra and the beach of Giannitsi. On February 25, with the initiative of our friend Dimitris Serelis, we reconnoitred and cleaned a kilometre of the path from Aktio towards Giannitsi. The remaining section towards the ancient castle of Fylagra, for a large part, has been completely closed off by vegetation.
The path is impressive, moving parallel to the cliff coastline, while a large part of it is shaded by the foliage of oaks and olive trees. Along its course, it connects buildings and ruins of fabulous traditional craftsmanship, threshing floors, and deserted chapels.
This is a section of an ancient path which, until relatively recently (80 years ago), was the main connection between Amygdalea and Kafireas, with Styra and Chalkida.
The following photos are from the older visit and the cleaning of the path in the abandoned settlement of Galana (Paradeisi).
